Salty Dog, Snook Inn, Crazy Flamingo Have Upper Hand Entering Tournament Finals Week
In the Island Division, Salty Dog defeated top-seeded Dolphin Tiki to remain in the winner’s bracket setting up a rematch between the two in the championship round. Dolphin Tiki will need to defeat Salty Dog twice to claim the tournament title. Snook Inn handed Brewery its first tournament defeat in the Marco Division and now await the winner of the Sami’s / Brewery game to face in the championship round. In the Gulf Coast Division, regular season champ Crazy Flamingo will face the American Legion for the tournament championship

Brewery, Salty Dog, Crazy Flamingo Continue To Roll in First Week of Tournament Action
In the Marco Division, Brewery extended their winning streak to five with victories over higher-seeded Sami’s and regular season champ Joey’s Pizza to advance to the winner’s bracket of the double elimination tournament and a date with Snook Inn who narrowly defeated Sandbar. Salty Dog defeated Nacho Mama’s to run their impressive winning streak to six and 11 of their last 12, and now have a showdown with Island Division regular season champ Dolphin Tiki who won their first game against DaVinci’s. In the Gulf Coast Division, regular season champ Crazy Flamingo continued their winning ways with victories over Doreen’s and American Legion and now take their six-game win streak into the championship round of their tournament

With three teams vying for the Marco Division regular season title up until the final day, Joey’s Pizza came out on top with a convincing win over Sami’s while both Snook Inn and Sandbar were defeated. Now its on to the double elimination tournament. In the Island Division, the top two seeds are Dolphin Tiki and Salty Dog both of whom get first round byes. Joey’s Pizza and Snook Inn earned first round byes as the top seeds in the Marco Division. In the Gulf Coast Division, all four teams play in round one with Crazy Flamingo getting the top seed

Crazy Flamingo Claims Gulf Coast title; Marco Division Up For Grabs
Crazy Flamingo won twice this week including a defeat of second-place Oyster Society and thereby clinched the regular season Gulf Coast Division title. In the ultra-competitive Marco Division, Snook Inn, winner of two games this week, holds a slim one game lead over both Sandbar and Joey’s Pizza heading into the final week of the regular season. Island Division champ Dolphin Tiki maintained a four-game lead over both the Salty Dog and Nacho Mama’s. All teams continue to play for seeding in the upcoming double elimination tournament

Dolphin Tiki Clinches Island Division; Joey’s Pizza Stays Hot
Dolphin Tiki bounced back this week with two big wins over their closest competition, Nacho Mama’s and Salty Dog, to extend their lead over second-place Nacho’s to four games thereby clinching the Island Division regular season title. Joey’s Pizza ran their win streak to six straight and now lead the tight Marco Division by a half game over Snook Inn and Sandbar. In the Gulf Coast Division, Crazy Flamingo and Oyster Society both split their games this week, so Crazy Flamingo maintained their one-game lead over the Oyster Society.

JOEY’S PIZZA AND SALTY DOG MAKE UP GROUND IN STANDINGS AFTER HUGE WEEK
Joey’s Pizza won twice this week including a victory over Snook Inn which ran their win streak to five and pulled them even with the Snook for the Marco Division lead. Five teams, including Sandbar, Sami’s, and the Brewery are separated by just two games in that division. In the Island Division, Salty Dog also ran their win streak to five with three victories this week and now sit in third place, one game behind Nacho Mama’s and four behind division leader Dolphin Tiki. In the Gulf Coast Division, Crazy Flamingo and Oyster Society met four times this week, two of which were completions of suspended games, and the Oystermen came out on top in three of them to pull within one game of division leader Crazy Flamingo

In the Island Division, Dolphin Tiki continued to steamroll all opponents as they extended their win streak to ten and their lead to three games over Nacho Mama’s. In the Marco Division, Snook Inn won both games this week to increase their advantage to two games over Sandbar and Joey’s Pizza. Crazy Flamingo won again and continues to be the only unbeaten team in the league as they enjoy a three game lead over the Oyster Society in the Gulf Coast Division

DAVINCI’S, SAMI’S, AND OYSTER SOCIETY CROWNED TOURNAMENT CHAMPS
The Marco Senior Softball League experienced their own version of March Madness as the last place teams in two of the divisions made improbable runs by defeating three higher seeds in the tournament to advance to the championship game before finally being eliminated.
In the Island Division, sixth-seeded Speakeasy knocked off Dolphin Tiki, Nacho Mama’s, and top-seeded Verdi’s before being defeated by tournament champion DaVinci’s in a thriller.
Regular season champ and top-seed Sami’s also won the Marco Division Tournament by topping sixth-seeded Snook Inn, who had previously defeated Stonewalls, Mango’s, and Joey’s Pizza to reach the final game.
In the Gulf Coast Division, regular season champ Oyster Society completed an outstanding season by also taking the tournament title with a victory over second-seeded Crazy Flamingo.
Congratulations to all the champions and thanks to all the players, coaches, and sponsors for another great season of senior softball!

UPSETS MARK SECOND WEEK OF ACTION IN THE MARCO SENIOR SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
The second week of tournament action saw several great defensive battles along with a few upsets especially in the Island Division.
Top-seeded Verdi’s was bounced from the tournament as second-seeded DaVinci’s and sixth-seeded Speakeasy both defeated Verdi’s and are now playing for the Island Division championship.
In the Marco Division, fourth-seeded Joey’s Pizza and sixth-seeded Snook Inn are still alive and will play for the right to face top-seeded Sami’s for the championship.
Top-seeded Oyster Society and second-seeded Crazy Flamingo’s advanced to the championship round in the Gulf Coast Division.

BILL SHURINA HONORED AS OUTGOING COMMISSIONER; TOURNAMENT ACTION BEGINS
It was a busy week for the Marco Senior Softball League. Bill Shurina, the league Commissioner for the past 18 years, officially retired and was honored by the league along with his wife Barb in a ceremony at the Winterberry Field.
The double elimination tournament also got underway with all sixteen teams competing for the championship of each of the three divisions.
In the Island Division, Verdi’s and DaVinci’s advanced to the winner’s bracket. Nacho Mama’s and Speakeasy also remain alive but in the loser’s bracket.
Sami’s and the Snook Inn both are in the winner’s bracket in the Marco Division while the other four teams are still alive in the loser’s bracket.
In the Gulf Coast Division, the Oyster Society is the lone team remaining in the winner’s bracket and awaits the survivor of the other three teams that are in the loser’s bracket.

The regular season of the Marco Senior Softball League concluded last week with the completion of a few makeup games from earlier season rainouts, and now its tournament time for the league with all sixteen teams participating.
The double elimination tournament begins on Monday, March 13.
In the Island Division, regular season champ Verdi’s is the top seed and DaVinci’s is the second seed. Both with get a bye in round one.
Sami’s, who finished as the regular season champ in the Marco Division, and second place Mango’s both receive a first round bye.

MARCO SENIOR SOFTBALL 2022 SEASON SEES EXPANSION
The Marco Senior Softball League had their highest level of registrations since the league officially began in 2000, with over 240 players registering to participate in the program. This led to another team being added to the Gulf Coast Division and brings the total number of teams in the league to sixteen. The League now has four teams in the Gulf Coast Division: The American Legion Post, Crazy Flamingo’s, Doreen’s, and the Oyster Society. The Island Division has six teams: DaVinci’s, Dolphin Tiki, Nacho Mama’s, The Salty Dog, Speakeasy, and Verdi’s. The Marco Division also has six teams: Joey’s Pizza, Mango’s, Sami’s, Sand Bar, Snook Inn, and Stonewalls.

Dolphin Tiki, Doreen’s and Mango’s are Tournament Champions
The Marco Island Senior Men’s Softball season came to a close on Friday March 26th with three Tournament Championship games being played. The Tournament saw the majority of games decided by one run. In the Island Division Tournament game the Dolphin Tiki defeated DaVinci’s by one run thanks to the clutch hitting of Jim Vitas who drove in the winning run in a 11-10 ball game. Doreen’s and Mango’s completed their sweep of their respective Division, Doreen’s Gulf Coast and Mango’s Marco, having already won the regular season championship titles. Doreen’s defeated the American Legion Post and Mango’s defeated Joey’s Pizza.

The 2021 Tournament portion of the season is rapidly coming to a conclusion. In the Island Division Dolphin Tiki is undefeated and is headed to the Championship game, with winner of the Brewery versus DaVinci’s game playing them. Similarly, Mango’s has and unblemished record and is in the Marco Division Championship game against the winner of Joey D’s versus Joey Pizza. In the Gulf Coast Division the winner of Crazy Flamingo versus American Legion Post will play Doreen’s in the Division Tournament Championship game.

DaVinci’s ended up winning the Island Division Championship over Dolphin Tiki on a tie-breaker. Both teams ended the regular season with a 13-7 record with both teams having beaten one another twice head-to-head. The run margin differential based on head to head play resulted in a 66-58 run advantage in favor DaVinci’s. resulting in them being the winners of the Island Division..
In the Gulf Coast Division Doreen’s were declared the winners with two games left to be play in the regular season with a record of 12-4.

Mango’s clinched the Marco Division League Championship for first year player manager Paul Sullivan with one game remaining in regular season. The competition in all three Divisions cannot get much closer with the regular season rapidly coming to a close. Nacho Mama’s ends DaVinci’s winning Streak
This past week saw may streaks come to end with Nacho Mama’s ending the longest winning streak of the season by DaVinci’s who had won eight games in a row after a 1-4 start to the season. The other streak that came to and end was the Salty Dog’s losing streak of nine games, with the Salty Dog winning two games in a row this week. The other major highlight of this past week was the Salty Dog turning a triple play against Dolphin Tiki the first of the season in the league.
As the teams enter the last third of the season, the Dolphin Tiki and DaVinci’s are tied for first place in the Island Division with a one game advantage over the Brewery. In the Marco Division Mango’s has a one game lead over Joey’s Pizza and in the Gulf Coast Division Doreen’s has a one game lead over the American Legion Post.

Having reached the mid-point of the 2021 Senior softball season all three divisions are up for grabs. The Dolphin Tiki holds a one game lead over the Brewery, Speakeasy and DaVinci’s in the Island Division with American Legion post holding a one game lead over Doreen’s in the Gulf Coast Division . The Marco Division has three teams tied for first Mango’s, Snook Inn and Joey’s Pizza.

Rain caused a washout of play in the Marco and Gulf Coast Divisions this past week, while the cold and wind caused havoc with games in the Island Division.

With a quarter of the 2021 season already over, all three divisions have seen competitive games played. The Brewery in the Island Division and Snook Inn in the Marco Division are in first place with a one game advantage over their divisional rivals. In the Gulf Coast Division the American Legion Post and Crazy Flamingo’s are tied for first place.

Marco City Council Members toss out balls to start the 2021 Season
The Marco Island Men’s Senior Softball League was back in full swing with Marco Island newly elected City Council Members Rich Blonna and Becky Irwin tossing out first pitches to start the 2021 season. Rich and Becky were very instrumental in helping facilitate the needed improvements made to the Winterberry Park Field for the 2021 season.
The 2020 season was brought to an abrupt halt last March due to Covid-19, which also lead to a delay in beginning the 2021 season to insure Covid-19 Protocols were in place for players and other participants.
At the end of a week of play Speakeasy in the Island Division, Joey’s Pizza and the Snook Inn in the Marco Division, and Crazy Flamingo in the Gulf Coast Division were all undefeated. Games results along with highlights and Divisional Standings are included below.
Games are played at Winterberry Park Mondays through Fridays during the months of January, February and March.

MARCO SENIOR SOFTBALL CANCELS SEASON
The MARCO ISLAND SENIOR SOFTBALL LEAGUE has officially cancelled the balance of the 2020 season. This was a very difficult decision since we all know what Marco Island Senior Softball means to everyone; players, sponsors, umpires, announcers and scorers, and our faithful followers. It is our field of Dreams and we are one large family and we want to keep this family as healthy as possible in light of the new CDC health guidelines and what we as a nation are trying to accomplish of not having gatherings of 10 people or more.
We want to thank everyone involved in our program for their support this season and looking forward to seeing everyone back for the 2021 season. We will keep members apprised on the 2021 season and registration information as well as pick up games when we can resume playing them. STONEWALLS WINS MARCO DIVISION
The Marco Division Champions Stonewalls ended their season with a 17-5 recorded edging out Joey’s Pizza by one game. Stonewall out scored their opposition by 138 runs this season, scoring 353 runs while giving up 215 over the twenty-two game season with their five losses being by a total of eight runs.
In the Gulf Coast Division the Divisional Champions American Legion Post 404 continues their winning way increasing their record to 15-1.
The Island and Marco Division Tournament have begun with Nacho Mama’ and the Brewery having wins in the Island Division and Mango’s and the Snook Inn in the Marco Division. The Tournament is double elimination; meaning once team has lost twice they are out of the tournament and their season is over

American Legion Post 404 wins 4th Consecutive Gulf Coast Divisional Championship
For the fourth consecutive season the American Legion Post 404 has won the Gulf Coast Division Championship. Amassing an amazing 13-1 record thus far, their only loss was by two runs as they rolled through the opposition this season.
In the Marco Division Stonewalls holds on to a two game advantage over Joey’s Pizza with only two games left in the season to play. Last week Dolphin Tiki wrapped up the Island Division Championship
Starting next Monday March 9th 2020, the dual elimination Tournament will begin.

Dolphin Tiki Clinches Division
The Dolphin Tiki clinched the Island Divisional Championship with a 14- 4 recorded with four games yet to be played in regular season. They defeated DaVinci’s, the only team that had the potential to challenge them, on their sixth win in a row. This was the Dolphin Tiki’s first year in sponsoring a team, we would like to give a special thank you to owners Rick and Sue Kralik.
The American Legion post is marching along to the Gulf Coast title with a 10-1 record four and half games ahead of Mutual of Omaha Bank.
In the Marco Division there are three teams still in contention. Stonewalls currently holds a two game advantage over Joey’s Pizza and the Snook Inn with four games to be played.

As the 2020 season heads into the home stretch, the American Legion Post is dominating the Gulf Coast Division with a record of 9-1. Dolphin Tiki has taken a three game lead in the Island Division with a four game winning streak coupled by a four game losing streak by DaVinci’s. Stonewalls riding a six game winning streak has a two game advantage over Joey’s Pizza and the Snook Inn in hotly contested Marco Division.

Doreen’s win first game of the season handing the American Legion Post their first loss.
In the Gulf Coast Division Doreen’s ended their five game losing with their first win by defeating the previously unbeaten American Legion Post team who saw their five game winning streak come to an end. The American Legion post has a commanding two and a half game lead over Mutual of Omaha Bank.
Joey’s Pizza took over sole possession of first place in the Marco Division, when they beat Stonewalls for the second time this season by the same score of 10-8. Joey’s now holds a one game advantage over Stonewalls and the Snook Inn.
The Island continues to have the Dolphin Tiki and DaVinci’s tied for first place. Both teams have a two game lead the over the third place Brewery.

American Legion Post remains the only Undefeated Team
The American Legion Post is the only team in the League with an unblemished record at 4-0 in the Gulf Coast Division. Thus far they have outscored their opponents 56-17 and have a two game lead over Mutual of Omaha Bank.
The Island Division has three teams in first place Dolphin Tiki, DaVinci’s and the Brewery. One of the highlights from the games this week was Tom Polston of DaVinci’s hitting for the cycle( single, double, triple, homerun), with Gary Revall having hit three homeruns in the same game versus the Salty Dog.
The Marco Division also has three teams tied for first; Stonewalls, Joey’s Pizza and the Snook Inn. A record was set by Stonewalls having had three consecutive mercy games which means their was at least a fifteen run differential in the score and the game was called. On the flipside Stonewalls had triple play against them by Mango’s.

The league has four teams tied for first place in the Island Division the Brewery, DaVinci’s, Dolphin Tiki, and Nacho Mama’s. The Marco Division has three teams tied for first Stonewalls, Sand Bar, and Snook Inn. In the Gulf Coast Division the American Legion Post is the only undefeated team in the league with a 2-0 record.
This past week we had the honor of the Marco Island Police Chief Tracy Frazzano throwing out a opening day game ball. Tracy was an avid softball player having played collegiate softball at Rutgers University.

American Legion Post, Brewery and Stonewalls are Divisional Tournament Champions
With the 2019 season having come to a close, the tournament portion of the season had record attendance of 200 plus spectators at each of three Tournament Championship Games. Parking was at a premium with people parking on empty lots, swales in addition to the parking lots as well as bicyclists and motorcycles.
The American Legion Post made it a clean sweep for the season winning the Gulf Coast Tournament in addition to the Divisional Championship. In the Island Division Tournament the Brewery beat DaVinci’s twice giving them the Championship as well as an unblemished record in the tournament of 3-0. Stonewalls was the Marco Division Tournament Champions after it handed Mango’s its second loss. Both team’s had previously beaten one another once in the double elimination tournament.

This past week saw a number unique highlights in the games played. First on the list is a Triple Play turned by Nacho Mama's Rick DiStasio. Rick pickup a ground and tagged the runner off second base and then forced the runner coming from first at second base and then fired the ball onto first base to get the batter out. Second was Joe Furst of Joey's Pizza limiting Mutual of Omaha Bank to only two hits, one which was a swinging bunt single. Third was the fact that four out of the thirteen played this week were determine by a difference of run one.

It has now grown to fifteen teams comprised of three divisions; the Gulf Coast , Island and Marco Division divisions with over two hundred members. Among the members from the inaugural season that are still actively playing are Al Bozzo, Jerry Cnudde, Dom Fiorda, and Leroy Fishleigh.

2018 Season Rapidly coming too an End
With the tournament in full swing many teams have already seen their season come to a conclusion. In the Island Division DaVinci's and Nacho Mama's were both eliminated from the tournament having incurred two loses. In the Marco Division Joey's Pizza, Mango's and Stonewalls have been eliminated. The Gulf Coast Division will have a single elimination Tournament with the winner of the Moose Lodge and Doreen's playing the Tournament Championship game against the Divisional Champions American Legion Post #404.

The Speakeasy, 2Shea's Salty Dog, American Legion Post 404 Divisional Champions
The 2018 Divisional Champions were determined this past week. The Speakeasy won the Island Division, 2Shea's Salty Dog the Marco Division, and American Legion Post 404 the Gulf Coast Division. Both Speakeasy and 2Shea's Salty Dog won their respective division by a two game margin. The American Legion clinched the Gulf Coast with three games still to be played.
The 2018 Tournament portion of the season began in the both the Island and Marco Divisions which is played in a double elimination loss format.

Entering the last few games of the regular season the Island Division and Marco Division both have three teams that have a chance of winning the Divisional Championship. In the Island Division Speakeasy have a half game lead over Sand Bar and a two game lead over Nacho Mama's. In the Marco Division 2Shea's Salty Dog has a two game lead over Crazy Flamingo's and Mango's. The American Legion Post has comfortable four game advantage over the Moose Lodge in the Gulf Coast Division.

BUETTNER HAMMERS TWO GRAND SLAM HOMERUNS FOR SPEAKEASY
Tom Buettner, Speakeasy’s shortstop, showed off his raw power by hammering two grand slam homeruns as part of his five hit day, which also included two doubles, at the plate giving him eleven RBI in game. The game ended up a mercy game called due to a fifteen run differential and kept Speakeasy one game behind the Island Division’s first place team Sand Bar which also won another game due to mercy rule.
In the Marco Division 2Shea’s Salty Dog holds on to a one game advantage for first place over the Crazy Flamingo who is currently on a five game winning streak.
In the Gulf Coast Division the American Legion Post maintained their one game lead over the Moose Lodge.

MARCO DIVISION SETS RECORD CLOUTING 18 HOMERUNS
With a strong southwest wind blowing out from home plate the teams in the Marco Division recorded 18 homeruns during the three games played this past Monday. Warren Uhl of Mango's clouted three homeruns in a the game, one being a grand slam, and Robert Stried of Crazy Flamingo's had two in a game.
Looking at Divisional play, the American Legion Post kept their recorded perfect winning both games this past week upping their record to 5-0 in the Gulf Coast Division. Stonewalls remains in first in the Marco Division with a one game lead over 2Sheas’s Salty Dog. Nacho Mama’s and Sand Bar are tied for first in the Island Division with Speakeasy one game out.

Marco Island Men's Senior Softball began it's nineteenth season despite the fact the field had received significant damage from Hurricane Irma. The scoring booth was toppled by the wind as well as damaging the roofs of the dugouts.Never the less the 2018 is off and running.

2017 Senior Softball season comes to a close with the American Legion Post, Moose Lodge, Mango's and Nacho Mama's winning Championships
It only seems like yesterday when the 2017 Marco Island Senior Men's Softball and conclude this past week with four championships being determined.
In the Gulf Coast Division the League Championship was won by the American Legion Post 404 when they knocked off Kurtz Coney Island in the final game of league play with both teams entering the game with identical records of 9-8. The Moose Lodge which ended the season in third place ended up playing the American Legion in the Divisional Tournament Championship game defeating them in dramatic fashion in last inning of the game for the Championship.
Mango’s, who finished second to CJ's on the Bay in league play, got their revenge by beating CJ's for Marco Division Tournament Championship.
In the Island Division Nacho Mama's ending winning the Tournament over DaVinic's which cam in second to them during the regular season giving them a clean sweep of both Island Division Championships for 2017.
The League and players would like to thank all our sponsors, fans, volunteers and Marco Island Parks and Recreation for support in making the 2017 another huge success allowing us to relive our childhood in the Field of Dreams at Winter Park .

American Legion Post and Kurt’s' Coney Island are tied for first in the Gulf Coast Division
With one game left in League played the American Legion and Kurt's are tied for first with 9-8 records. The teams play one another this Wednesday March 22nd at 11:00 AM for the Divisional Championship. Then the Gulf Coast Tournament begins on Friday March 24th at 1:00 PM between the loser of Wednesday's game and the Moose Lodge.
In the Marco Division Mango's is undefeated in the Tournament and will play the winner of the CJ's on the Bay and Stonewalls game winner on Friday March 24th at 9:00 AM in the first Tournament Championship game, if Mango's were to lose then a final Tournament Championship game would be played on Monday March 27th at 11:00 AM.
In the Island Division tournament both Nacho's Mamas and the Brewery are undefeated and play Thursday March 23rd at 9:00 AM in the loser bracket of the Tournament DaVinci's and Mutual of Omaha Bank are still in contention with one lose and player one other at 11:00 on Thursday March 23rd.

Jim Vitas drives in the winning run for Nacho Mama’s and the Island Division Championship
Nacho Mama's and DaVinci's were tied going into the final game of the season for both teams with a 14 -7 record. The game was tied at 11-11 going into the bottom of the last inning of the game when Jim Vitas drilled a wicked line drive to left center driving in the winning run for Nacho Mama's giving them the Island Division Championship. More highlights on the game are listed below in the individual game recaps.
In the Gulf Coast Division the American Legion Post took over first place having beaten Kirk’s Coney Island . There are only two games separating all three teams with two games left in the season for each team.

CJ's on the Bay locked up the Marco Divisional Championship with one game to play in the regular season when they held off a come from behind attempt by Crazy Flamingo's, pulling off a double play with the bases loaded ending the game giving them the Championship. In the Island Division there is a tie between Nacho Mama's and DaVinci's with the teams playing each other on Thursday March 9th at 8:45 AM to determine the Championship. In the Gulf Coast Division things are heating up as well with Kirk's Coney Island holding a half game lead on the American Legion Post.

Rookies continued the team’s hot streak with six straight wins and now have won eight of their last nine games with one being a tie. They have moved themselves into contention in the Marco Division, two games behind Division leading CJ's on the Bay and a half a game behind Mango's with five games left in the season before tournament play. The Gulf Coast Division Kirk's Coney Island has a two an a half game lead over the Moose Lodge. Nacho Mama's has taken sole possession of first in the Island Division with a one game lead over DaVinci's and a two game advantage on the Brewery with four games left in their season.
Tournament play is scheduled begin on Monday March 13th; weather permitting with the existing league scheduled games. Y

DaVinci's and CJ's on the Bay opened a two game lead in their Division’s, with Kirk's Coney Island having a one game lead. DaVinci's won the team's seventh consecutive game over second place Nacho Mama's and turn a triple in the game during the game. CJ's on the Bay lost their first game of the season to second place Mango's by one run but was able to restore their two game lead with two wins and a Mango's lost. Kirk's Coney Island edged out the American Legion Post in a close game to take over first in the Gulf Coast Division

With the season already a quarter over, CJ's record stands at 6-0 giving them a two game lead in the Marco Division thanks to an extra inning win. The 2017 season is off too an exciting and competitive start. Entering the second week of the 2017 season Nacho Mama's was in first place in the Island Division, with the Brewery and Mutual of Omaha Bank one game behind. CJ's on the Bay was in first place in the Marco Division with Mango's one game behind them. The Gulf Coast Division had Kirk's Coney Island in first with the American Legion Post one game out. The 2017 Marco Island Senior Softball season got off to a chill and blustery start on Monday January the 9th. Temperatures were in the low 50’s and with wind gusts up to 20-25 mph.
The League this season is comprised of three Divisions: Island Division consisting of Brewery, Mutual Of Omaha Bank, Nacho Mama’s, Sand Bar and Speakeasy. The Marco Division is represented by CJ’s on the Bay, Crazy Flamingo’s, Joey’s Pizza, Mango’s, Rookies and Stonewalls. The Gulf Division m which was formally the Legends Division is comprised of three teams this season and they are the American Legion Post, Kirk’s Coney Island , and the Moose Lodge.
The first two games were determined by one run. The recaps for these games as well as other games played are recapped below.

DaVinci's, CJ's on the Bay, and Kirk's Coney Island lead their respective Division
DaVinci's and CJ's on the Bay opened a two game lead in their Division’s, with Kirk's Coney Island having a one game lead. DaVinci's won the team's seventh consecutive game over second place Nacho Mama's and turn a triple in the game during the game. CJ's on the Bay lost their first game of the season to second place Mango's by one run but was able to restore their two game lead with two wins and a Mango's lost. Kirk's Coney Island edged out the American Legion Post in a close game to take over first in the Gulf Coast Division

CJ's on the Bay has the Only Unbeaten Record in the Men's Senior Softball League.
With the season already a quarter over, CJ's record stands at 6-0 giving them a two game lead in the Marco Division thanks to an extra inning win. DaVinci's took over first place in the Island Division having won their last five games and now leads Mutual of Omaha Bank and Nacho's Mama's by one game. In the Gulf Coast Division the American Legion Post and Kirk's Coney Island are tied for first place

The 2017 season is off too an exciting and competitive start. Entering the second week of the 2017 season Nacho Mama's was in first place in the Island Division, with the Brewery and Mutual of Omaha Bank one game behind. CJ's on the Bay was in first place in the Marco Division with Mango's one game behind them. The Gulf Coast Division had Kirk's Coney Island in first with the American Legion Post one game out. The 2017 Marco Island Senior Softball season got off to a chill and blustery start on Monday January the 9th. Temperatures were in the low 50’s and with wind gusts up to 20-25 mph.
The League this season is comprised of three Divisions: Island Division consisting of Brewery, Mutual Of Omaha Bank, Nacho Mama’s, Sand Bar and Speakeasy. The Marco Division is represented by CJ’s on the Bay, Crazy Flamingo’s, Joey’s Pizza, Mango’s, Rookies and Stonewalls. The Gulf Division m which was formally the Legends Division is comprised of three teams this season and they are the American Legion Post, Kirk’s Coney Island , and the Moose Lodge.
The first two games were determined by one run. The recaps for these games as well as other games played are recapped below.

Men's Senior Softball Tournament Winners are Stonewalls and Speakeasy
The 2016 season conclude with Stonewall sweeping both the Tournament as well as the League Divisional Championship this season. Speakeasy knocked off the Island Divisional champions Sand Bar to winner the Island Divisional Championship. Both games came down to the last inning to determine the tournament winner. With Stonewalls pulling out a 7 - 6 win over Mango's, and Speakeasy a 12 - 9 victory over Sand Bar
Marco Island Senior Softball would like to thank all of our sponsors, fans, local newspapers, and the Marco Island Parks and Recreation Department for making 2016 another successful season. This year the League expanded to another Division comprised of two team to accommodate the over two hundred individuals wanting to play in the League.

West Wins Legends Tournament
The West team won the Legends Tournament by winning rubber match between the West and East teams by a final score of 18 - 7. In the Island Division, Nacho Mama's and Speakeasy remained undefeated, with the Brewery and DaVinci's being eliminated from the tournament with two loses. In the Marco Division Stonewalls has moved on to the Championship game going undefeated thus far in the tournament. They will play the winner of the Crazy Flamingo's Mango's winner; all other teams have been eliminated. There are two Tournament Championship games scheduled for Friday March 25th, Marco Division at 9:30 AM and Island Division at 11:30 AM.

The Sand Bar won the Island Divisional Championship over the second place Omaha Bank by one game, with and impressive 16 - 6 record. The East team won the Legends Division by two games over the West team, having won the last two game of the season.
The Double Elimination Tournament has begun for all Divisions, with Nacho Mama's and Speakeasy registering wins in the Island Division. In the Marco Division Crazy Flamingo's and Mango's won their opening round and Legends West earned a win over the East in their first game. Stonewalls clinches Marco Divisional Championship!!!
Stonewalls defeat of Joey's Pizza clinched the Divisional Champion this past week and with the team's win on Monday extended their winning streak to a league leading seven games. In the Island Division Sand Bar holds a one game lead over Mutual of Omaha Bank and a two game lead over Speakeasy with two games left to be played. The Legends East won two of three games against the West this past week and now holds a one game lead with one game left on the schedule.

The 2016 season has two regular scheduled games left to be played in all three Divisions with two positions games to be played next week. The position games are based on where teams were at the mid point of the season and at the end of the season, which concludes this week. With approximately two thirds of the season completed, Sand Bar and Speakeasy are tied for first in the Island Division, with Stonewalls in the Marco Division and the West in the Legends Division holding a one game lead. With numerous head to head games still to be played, it looks like it will come down to the last games of the season to determine a winner.

Of the seventeen games played this past week, one run was the difference in nine of them, five in the Marco Division and four in the Island Division. Weather plays Havoc with Senior Softball Games
The rainy weather caused three days of games to be cancelled, and if not for the efforts of Marco Island Parks and Recreation Departments another day of games would have been lost For the games played in the Island Division had both Speakeasy and Sand Bar incurred their first losses of the season; Speakeasy losing one game and Sand Bar two. Speakeasy now holds a one game lead over Sand Bar. CJ's on the Bay holds a half game lead over the the hard charging Stonewalls team who increased their winning streak to five games. In the Legends Division the East ended their two game losing streak.

The Brewery and Speakeasy each won their respective Marco Island Men's Senior Softball Divisional Tournament with both teams going undefeated in the tournament. The Brewery as well as Speakeasy had to come from behind to win the championship.

Brewery and Speakeasy make it to Tournament Championship Games
The Brewery made it to the Island Division Tournament Championship game by defeating DaVInci's. Speakeasy earned their way to to the Marco Division Tournament Championship game by defeating CJ's on the Bay.
The Brewery will play the winner of the Nacho Mama's / DaVinci's game . Speakeasy will play the winner of the Stonewalls / CJ's on the Bay game. The Tournament Championship games are scheduled for Friday March 27th with the Island Division playing a 9:30 AM and the Marco Division playing at 11:30 AM. If either the Brewery or Speakeasy loses on Friday a second Championship game will be played on Monday March 30th based on the double elimination tournament format.

CRAZY FLAMINGO'S WINS MARCO DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE !!!
In a must win game Crazy Flamingo's beat Joey's Pizza 14-3 and earned the Title of MARCO DIVISION CHAMPIONS with a record of 13 - 7, finishing one game ahead of CJ's on the Bay and Mango's. The win then placed CJ's on the Bay in second and Mango's in third with both teams ending their season with 12 - 8 records; CJ's being place into second based on a tie breaker in head to head competition.
This lead to the beginning of the Tournament session of the 2015 Season with teams being seeded based on their Divisional finish. The tournament is a double elimination tournament, where once a team loses twice they are out of the tournament. Is it Crazy Flamingo's or CJ's on the Bay?
With one game left in the regular season in the Marco Division between Crazy Flamingo's and Joey's Pizza; Flamingo's will determine if they are the Marco Divisional Champion or lose in a tie breaker to CJ's on the Bay and end up in third place.
The game is being played on Thursday morning March 12th at 9:30 AM.
A loss by Crazy Flamingo's would put them in a three way tie with CJ's on the Bay and Mango's. CJ's would be declared the Marco Divisional Champion based on head to head wins versus Flamingo's, and having a running scoring differential versus Mango's, since both teams won two games each. Mango’s has the head to head differential versus Crazy Flamingo.
Tournament games begin on Friday March 13th with games scheduled for 9:30 and 11:30, go to the league website www.marcoseniorsoftballleague.com for teams seeding and schedules for both the Island and Marco Divisions.

DaVinci’s clinches Island Division Title
DaVinci’s clinched the Island Division Title on four consecutive bases hits after two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning; Paul Shelton drove in the tying run and Murph Knapke the winning run. The win gave DaVinci’s an insurmountable lead of four games with only three games left in regular season play over the second place Brewery who they defeated to clinch the Division. Mango’s saw it seven game winning streak come to and end, but still held a one game lead, over CJ’s on the Bay and Crazy Flamingo’s, in the Marco Division with three games left in the season.

The 2015 Senior Softball season is coming down the home stretch with DaVinic's holding a three game lead over the second place Brewery and Porky's in the Island Division. Mango's has a one game lead over the second place Speakeasy and a game and half lead over third place Crazy Flamingo's in the Marco Division.

Speakeasy was handed the team’s first defeat of the season by Stonewalls in an extra inning affair, but remained in first place in the Marco Division. DaVinci’s took over first place in the Island Division with a win over Sand Bar previously in first.

The 2015 Marco Island Men’s Senior Softball began with two new sponsors in the league, Mango’s Dockside Bistro and the Speakeasy, both in the Marco Division. This year the Marco Division is comprised of seven teams CJ’s on the Bay, Crazy Flamingo’s, Joey’s Pizza, Mango’s Dockside Bistro, Rookies, Speakeasy and Stonewalls. The Island Division is comprised of six teams the Brewery, DaVinci’s, Mutual of Omaha Bank, Nacho Mama’s, Porky’s, and Sand Bar.
Games are played at Winterberry Park Monday through Friday with games beginning every day at 9:30 AM with the exception of Thursday’s where games begin at 9:00 AM.
In the first week of play Speakeasy was undefeated at 3-0 followed by Mango’s at 2-1. The Island Division had three teams at 1-0 DaVinci’s, Porky’s and Sand Bar. Game highlights and results are attached.

Sand Bar won the Island Division Tournament, by defeating Mutual of Omaha Bank the the season's League Champions twice in a row after having lost to them earlier in the Tournament. With the game tied at 10-10 after eight innings, Sand pushed four runs across home plate for the win and the Tournament Championship.

The Marco Island Tournament saw Sasso's, Brewery's, and Nacho Mama's season come to an end having lost their second game in the Tournament, with Mutual of Omaha Bank moving onto the Championship game. The Bank defeat Sand Bar which will now play DaVinci's in the loser bracket too determine who plays Mutual of Omaha Bank on Friday March 21st at 9:30 AM in the Championship game.
In the Marco Division Tournament play Porky's and Joey's Pizza saw season closure with both teaming having two losses. On Thursday March 20th at 9:30 AM Crazy Flamingo will be playing Rookies to see who moves on too the Championship game to be played on Tuesday 25th at 9:30 AM. Stonewalls and CJ’s on the Bay are still a factor in the Tournament with both having one loss. They will play on Thursday at 11:30 AM with the loser being eliminated from the tournament.

CJ's on the Bay clinched the Marco Divisional Title in a head to head battle against second place Rookies. CJ's won the game coming from behind scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. CJ's ended the season with an 17-4 record, winning the Marco Division by three games over Rookies.
Island Division Title winner Mutual of Omaha Bank ended the season with a 16-6 record winning the Division by three games over DaVinci's.
Both CJ's on the Bay and Mutual of Omaha Bank were first in their respective Division's in giving up the least number of runs scored against them, and second in total runs scored against their opponents.
The Double Elimination Tournament started on Monday with Sasso's and Sand Bar advancing in winners bracket the Island Division. Mutual of Omaha Bank won the Island Divisional Title and CJ's on the Bay is one win away from winning the Marco Division Title. The Bank won both their games played this week, while second place DaVinci's lost a close game against Sasso's ending the team's hopes of Divisional Title. CJ's needs to either win one more game or have second place Rookies lose a game for them to clinch the Marco Divisional Title.

This week's action saw the first and second teams in both Divisions square off against each other. In the Marco Division. CJ's on the Bay knocked off Rookies in extra innings increasing, their lead to two games. Marco Island Senior Softball Results March 26th 2013 (pdf)
The Brewery and Speakeasy each won their respective Marco Island Men's Senior Softball Divisional Tournament with both teams going undefeated in the tournament. The Brewery as well as Speakeasy had to come from behind to win the championship.
This concludes the 2015 season and we like to thank our fans and sponsors for their support this season.

Brewery and Speakeasy make it to Tournament Championship Games
The Brewery made it to the Island Division Tournament Championship game by defeating DaVInci's. Speakeasy earned their way to to the Marco Division Tournament Championship game by defeating CJ's on the Bay.
The Brewery will play the winner of the Nacho Mama's / DaVinci's game . Speakeasy will play the winner of the Stonewalls / CJ's on the Bay game. The Tournament Championship games are scheduled for Friday March 27th with the Island Division playing a 9:30 AM and the Marco Division playing at 11:30 AM. If either the Brewery or Speakeasy loses on Friday a second Championship game will be played on Monday March 30th based on the double elimination tournament format.

CRAZY FLAMINGO'S WINS MARCO DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE !!!
In a must win game Crazy Flamingo's beat Joey's Pizza 14-3 and earned the Title of MARCO DIVISION CHAMPIONS with a record of 13 - 7, finishing one game ahead of CJ's on the Bay and Mango's. The win then placed CJ's on the Bay in second and Mango's in third with both teams ending their season with 12 - 8 records; CJ's being place into second based on a tie breaker in head to head competition.
This lead to the beginning of the Tournament session of the 2015 Season with teams being seeded based on their Divisional finish. The tournament is a double elimination tournament, where once a team loses twice they are out of the tournament. You can go to the League website to follow the tournament results as well as the schedule of games. It is updated daily.

Is it Crazy Flamingo's or CJ's on the Bay?
With one game left in the regular season in the Marco Division between Crazy Flamingo's and Joey's Pizza; Flamingo's will determine if they are the Marco Divisional Champion or lose in a tie breaker to CJ's on the Bay and end up in third place.
The game is being played on Thursday morning March 12th at 9:30 AM.
A loss by Crazy Flamingo's would put them in a three way tie with CJ's on the Bay and Mango's. CJ's would be declared the Marco Divisional Champion based on head to head wins versus Flamingo's, and having a running scoring differential versus Mango's, since both teams won two games each. Mango’s has the head to head differential versus Crazy Flamingo.
Tournament games begin on Friday March 13th with games scheduled for 9:30 and 11:30, go to the league website www.marcoseniorsoftballleague.com for teams seeding and schedules for both the Island and Marco Divisions.

DaVinci’s clinches Island Division Title
DaVinci’s clinched the Island Division Title on four consecutive bases hits after two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning; Paul Shelton drove in the tying run and Murph Knapke the winning run. The win gave DaVinci’s an insurmountable lead of four games with only three games left in regular season play over the second place Brewery who they defeated to clinch the Division. Mango’s saw it seven game winning streak come to and end, but still held a one game lead, over CJ’s on the Bay and Crazy Flamingo’s, in the Marco Division with three games left in the season.

With six games left in the Men's Senior Softball Season DaVinci's and Mango's remain in first place.
The 2015 Senior Softball season is coming down the home stretch with DaVinic's holding a three game lead over the second place Brewery and Porky's in the Island Division. Mango's has a one game lead over the second place Speakeasy and a game and half lead over third place Crazy Flamingo's in the Marco Division.

With the season half over the Marco Division's CJ's on the Bay moved into a tie for first place based a game winning streak, coupled with a four game losing streak for Speakeasy. DaVinci's extended it lead in the Island Division to three games with a win over second place Porky's.

The races in both the Island and Marco Division are still up for grabs with DaVinci's holding a two game lead in the Island Division and Speakeasy with a half game lead in the Marco Division. The difference between first place and last place is four games in the Island Division and two and a half games in the Marco Division.

Speakeasy was handed the team’s first defeat of the season by Stonewalls in an extra inning affair, but remained in first place in the Marco Division. DaVinci’s took over first place in the Island Division with a win over Sand Bar previously in first.

The Speakeasy playing in the Marco Division saw the team record go to 5-0, while Sand Bar in the Island Division record went to 4-0. In hot pursuit of Speakeasy was Mango's at 3-1, while Sand Bar had DaVinci's one game behind at 3-1.

The 2015 Marco Island Men’s Senior Softball began with two new sponsors in the league, Mango’s Dockside Bistro and the Speakeasy, both in the Marco Division. This year the Marco Division is comprised of seven teams CJ’s on the Bay, Crazy Flamingo’s, Joey’s Pizza, Mango’s Dockside Bistro, Rookies, Speakeasy and Stonewalls. The Island Division is comprised of six teams the Brewery, DaVinci’s, Mutual of Omaha Bank, Nacho Mama’s, Porky’s, and Sand Bar.
Games are played at Winterberry Park Monday through Friday with games beginning every day at 9:30 AM with the exception of Thursday’s where games begin at 9:00 AM.
In the first week of play Speakeasy was undefeated at 3-0 followed by Mango’s at 2-1. The Island Division had three teams at 1-0 DaVinci’s, Porky’s and Sand Bar. Game highlights and results are attached.

Sand Bar won the Island Division Tournament, by defeating Mutual of Omaha Bank the the season's League Champions twice in a row after having lost to them earlier in the Tournament. With the game tied at 10-10 after eight innings, Sand pushed four runs across home plate for the win and the Tournament Championship.

The Marco Island Tournament saw Sasso's, Brewery's, and Nacho Mama's season come to an end having lost their second game in the Tournament, with Mutual of Omaha Bank moving onto the Championship game. The Bank defeat Sand Bar which will now play DaVinci's in the loser bracket too determine who plays Mutual of Omaha Bank on Friday March 21st at 9:30 AM in the Championship game.
In the Marco Division Tournament play Porky's and Joey's Pizza saw season closure with both teaming having two losses. On Thursday March 20th at 9:30 AM Crazy Flamingo will be playing Rookies to see who moves on too the Championship game to be played on Tuesday 25th at 9:30 AM. Stonewalls and CJ’s on the Bay are still a factor in the Tournament with both having one loss. They will play on Thursday at 11:30 AM with the loser being eliminated from the tournament.

CJ's on the Bay clinched the Marco Divisional Title in a head to head battle against second place Rookies. CJ's won the game coming from behind scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. CJ's ended the season with an 17-4 record, winning the Marco Division by three games over Rookies.
Island Division Title winner Mutual of Omaha Bank ended the season with a 16-6 record winning the Division by three games over DaVinci's.
Both CJ's on the Bay and Mutual of Omaha Bank were first in their respective Division's in giving up the least number of runs scored against them, and second in total runs scored against their opponents.
The Double Elimination Tournament started on Monday with Sasso's and Sand Bar advancing in winners bracket the Island Division. Mutual of Omaha Bank won the Island Divisional Title and CJ's on the Bay is one win away from winning the Marco Division Title. The Bank won both their games played this week, while second place DaVinci's lost a close game against Sasso's ending the team's hopes of Divisional Title. CJ's needs to either win one more game or have second place Rookies lose a game for them to clinch the Marco Divisional Title.

This week's action saw the first and second teams in both Divisions square off against each other. In the Marco Division. CJ's on the Bay knocked off Rookies in extra innings increasing, their lead to two games. In the Island Division, DaVinci's scored a come from behind win over Mutual of Omaha Bank, keeping the Bank's lead at one game.
