It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest (Ernie) Romeo Famiglietti on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at his home in Naples, Florida. He was the devoted husband of Karen Luszcz, with whom he shared 38 years.

Ernie was also the loving father of Melissa Famiglietti Snape of Hingham, MA, and an incredibly proud “Grandpa” to Andrew Ernest Snape and Lily Adeline Snape, also of Hingham, MA.
Born on August 1, 1936 in Providence, RI, Ernie was the son of the late Ernest and Adeline Famiglietti. He spent much of his youth at the Wanskuck Boys Club, where he honed his basketball and baseball skills, and was a graduate of Lasalle Academy. He received his college degree from Bryant University.

He was an ardent fan of New England sports. As a season ticket holder, he could often be found cheering on the Providence Friars basketball team or the New England Patriots supporting his teams through thick, thin and at times, very thin! He cherished his time at the ball field, whether he was watching his grandchildren play, or playing himself in the Marco Island Senior Softball League where over the years his teams won many championships, the friendships ran deep and he will be forever known to his family and friends as “Ace On First Base”.

In addition to his wife, daughter, and grandchildren, Ernie leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Elissa and Peter Pogorski of Boston, MA, and countless other cousins, family and friends that will deeply miss him. He was also the brother of the late Robert Famiglietti. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life of love, dedication, and accomplishment.

A Rhode Island service will be held on Tuesday, May 27th at 11 a.m. at A.A. Mariani and Son funeral home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, RI followed by a reception at The Aurora Club, 289 Broadway, Providence, RI.

Don O'Connell
Picture
Picture
We lost a terrific player, teammate, and friend Don O'Connell this morning (Sunday 11/12/2023)  as he passed away after a courageous fight with cancer.  We all remember Don as that left-handed hitting 3rd baseman with the "sweet swing" who could guide the ball easily into left, center, or right field.

Don was born in Jackson Heights, NY on July 26, 1951. He grew up on Long Island and would meet the love of his life Judy, at a Polish Festival, over 30 years ago. Don is survived by his loving wife Judy, a sister Donna, a daughter Kristine and two grandchildren Mason and Sarah. Don and Judy recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in August.

Don started his college career at West Virginia University and played football there while pursuing a degree in forestry. He then went on to complete his education at SUNY before pursuing and achieving the amazing accomplishment of 5 Masters Degrees. Don was an elementary school teacher for many years, a  drivers education instructor, and rounded out his professional life as a 6th grade teacher.

Don was recognized across Marco Sr. Softball as the "nicest gentlemen in the League."  As a runner, if you reached 3rd base he would greet you with a handshake or fist pump, a kind smile, and tell you "that was a great hit"...even if it was one of your worst days at the plate!

Don embodied the essence of Marco Sr, Softball:

-Sportsmanship   -Camaraderie  -Socialization  -Self Development  -Friendly Competition

Rest in Peace to "the nicest guy ever to step onto the Field at Winterberry."

The funeral Mass for Don will be Saturday December 2nd at 11am at San Marco Catholic Church.
